On Tuesday October 12th District Governor 7020 Louis Wever and First Spouse Amanda Wever officially visited his home club, the Rotary Club of Sint Maarten- Mid Isle.
Prior to our regular meeting, DG Louis first met with the Board.
He was warmly welcomed by the Members and Guests present. DG Louis mentioned that we need to promote leadership for building strong clubs, and start bringing in new QUALITY members. (Each one brings one).
We have a goal of 1.3 million members by the end of the Rotary Year 2022. We hope that our District can at least gain about 10% in member ship. We have a goal to achieve full eradication of Polio. Get more members involve with the Polio Plus Society. We talk about making Rotary look good. We have to work on better public image. We have to promote more educational projects like, Spelling Bee, Readers are Leaders and promote children making an essay of “the Four-Way Test”, etc.
Furthermore, DG Louis mentioned that our Rotary Club is well known for sharing prevention information about Health, like Obesity and Diabetics prevention. He hopes that this Rotary year, Mid Isle is also planning to come with a Health Awareness Project. We need to have our Disaster Plan ready. We have to be prepared for any disaster.
We have to work on the environment and promote more information and projects in this field, like beach cleaning projects, plant a tree project, banning of usage of Styrofoam and or plastic containers instead using environment friendly food containers which are available.
In conclusion DG Louis indicated that he hopes that these coming months the situation permits him to come visit the Clubs, in our District 7020. “It is always nice to meet my Rotary Family in person”. Also, that he hopes to have our District Conference here in St. Maarten in May 2022.
Let us “Serve to change lives”, and work on a successful Rotary year 2021-2022!
