Guest speaker Alert!
At our Weekly Meeting on Tuesday July 20th, we had Rotarian Natasha Parchment- Clarke as our Guest Speaker, and her topic was “Languages of Appreciation”. Rotarian Natasha is no stranger to us. She has presented several times before already at our meetings, and it is always a pleasure to have her.
For this presentation, we were asked to complete a survey and provide the answer to Natasha. There are five languages of appreciation, namely:
- Words of Affirmation-Using words to affirm, encourage, and appreciate people;
- Receiving Gifts- Less about the gifts and more about the thought behind it;
- Quality Time- Time spent with another person with your undivided attention focused on them;
- Acts of Service-Doing something for another person and not expecting anything in return;
- Physical Touch- Having some type of appropriate, physical contact with another person.
Natasha explained what we should avoid; treating everyone the same, giving affection the way YOU like receiving it, not paying enough attention. The survey results were also discussed, and members were asked to give examples of how to show appreciation to other members based on their scores. It was a very interactive presentation.
At the end of the presentation Rotarian Natasha was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for her inspiring presentation by Pres. Wayne on behalf of the club.
